Big pairs are not difficult to use correctly. The big pairs you should raise from any position. Should it have been already given a raise, then you can easily start to a reraise. The real difficulty begins only after the flop. From this point you can assess where you stand with his pair. If you see a flop of 8-4-7 with QQ, then they are in most cases still having the best hand. In such a situation, you should check on any case only, because the danger would be a king or an ace on the turn too large. If you come with QQ on a 9-4-A flop, then you should take on all cases caution (especially if more than one opponent in the pot set in this case, tends to check / fold) and possibly with a Bet find out whether their opponent holds an ace in the hand.
